Visiting the diocese Härnösand on occasion of consecration new archbishop

Härnösand diocese if one of the thirteen diocese within Church of Sweden. The 14th of December 2014 was held in Cathedral in Uppsala solemn worship by consecration new archbishop of Härnösand diocese – Eva Nordung Byström. The worship was led by archbishop Antje Jackelén in the presence of many foreign guests and bishops from Church of Sweden.

Among the guests were represented bishops: William Bowles – ELC South Africa, Christopher Lowson –Church of England, Simo Peura – Church of Finland, Tor Singsaas –Church of Norway and also General Bishop Miloš Klátik – ECAC in Slovakia. Together twenty two bishops from all over the world and many other guests, also ambassador of Slovak Republic in Sweden Jaroslav Auxt.

General Bishop cordially congratulate a new archbishop and whereas diocese Härnösand is our partnership diocese he expressed beliefs that a good mutual and joint cooperation will be continued.

Eva Nordung Byström had became the order of the 26th archbishop in diocese Härnösand. For her motton she took a biblical verse from 2.Corinthians 6:2b: ”See, now is the acceptable time; see, now is the day of salvation!”. She took a vow before the God and Church. She promised to carry out her mission where the God is glorified, church is built and the God becomes a reality in the world. Subsequently she received a bishop´s cross and bishop´s crook.

Her first words reflected great joy from that special moment. She welcomed the new obligations that expect her and she jointed the promise, that as a archbishop of diocese Härnösand she will try to do and act everything best to be a good spiritual leader, who will support the work of diocese congregations. She wants work on the strengthening diocese by promoting in whole diocese, in the countryside and also in the cities, inland and on the coast. Expressed her belief, that congregation of the Sweden are supported and equipped so that they can work and be in the middle of society.
