Year of Ľudovít Štúr 2015

General Bishop Miloš Klátik was attended on the solemn opening of the Year of the Ľudovít Štúr 2015, the 28th January 2015. It was held in representative spaces of the Bratislava castle.
Festive event was prepared by the Ministry of Culture of the Slovak Republic headed by the Minister of Culture – Marek Maďarič. On the event were present President of the Slovak Republic – Andrej Kiska, chairman of the National Council of the Slovak Republic –Peter Pellegrini, Prime Minister – Robert Fico and other leaders.

The Year of the Ľudoví Štúr 2015 was announcement by the government of the Slovak Republic based on the proposal of the Ministry of the culture SR. Slovakia has devoted all of 2015 to this historical personality „Ľudoví Štúr“ - of the slovak nation and also Evangelical Church of the A.C. in Slovakia - to commemorate 200 years since he was born. The 200 years anniversary since he was born was also included in the list of UNESCO anniversary for years 2014 – 2015.

The exhibition launched by the SNM-Museum of History at the Bratislava Castle devoted to the 200th anniversary of Ľudovít Štúr’s birth presents his life and work in the context of Slovak history, since the time of Great Moravia up to the present, on 19 thematic panels and by means of items from museums, art galleries and archives. It reminds us of the sources which Štúr had drawn his inspiration from, studies the course of his life and his accomplished work in detail and illustrates how his ideological and moral message has been fulfilled in individual historic stages up to date. The exhibition thus carries a charge of his message for the present.

Several events will take place on both the national and regional levels to commemorate the 200th anniversary of Ľudovít Štúr’s birth, with special focus on Bratislava, Uhrovec, Modra, Zvolen and Hlboké. The culmination of the Year of the Ľ.Štúr will be two-days all-slovakian commemoration event in birthplace of Ľudovít Štúr in Uhrovec. A part of this event will be solemn evangelical Worship in evangelical lutheran church, which will broadcasted in live by RTVS – Slovak Television.
