On Monday, October 26, 2015 General Bishop Miloš Klátik welcomed and accepted at General Bishop´s Office in Bratislava new Area program Director in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) Global Mission Unit the Rev. Cindy Halmarson.
The Rev. Cindy Halmarson is a former bishop of Evangelical Lutheran Church in Canada (ELCIC) Saskatchewan Synod. Since February 2015 she is working in the Global Mission Unit as Area Program Director for Europe, the Middle East and North Africa (Europe/MENA).
Her position involves building and maintaining relationships with partner churches in order to strengthen Christ’s mission in the world. The Bishop Cindy Halmarson came to Slovakia to introduce yourself and informed Bishop Klátik about her new tasks, visions and intents in new work position. She was interested about acting of American teachers at our Evangelical Schools. According to agreement between ELCA and ECAC concerning the volunteer teachers in Slovak Evangelical Lutheran Schools, she wants to raise awareness about this project and she wants to gain more qualified, high-school educated teachers, who will be help in learning English and other subjects in schools.
