The Synod of the ECAC in Slovakia 2013

On June 28-29, 2013 the Synod of the Evangelical Church of the Augsburg Confession in Slovakia took place in Myjava. This place was chosen on the occasion of the 350th anniversary of Daniel Krman’s birth. Daniel Krman Jr. was a significant evangelical pastor in Myjava from 1690 to 1699, a superintendent, the central figure of the Synod in Ružomberok in the year 1707, and a martyr of faith.
The Synod began with a worship service at the Evangelical Church in Myjava. Marián Čop, the Superintendent of the Evangelical Church in the Czech Republic and the pastor of the Slovak congregation in Prague was preaching. He greeted all participants on behalf of the Board of the Slovak Evangelical Church A. C. in the Czech Republic and the members of the Slovak Evangelical Church A. C in the Czech Republic. In his sermon he underlined faithfulness to God and he warned against benevolence.
The Synod adopted the proclamation of the ECAC about marriage and a family, and the worship order to celebrate the jubilee of confirmation.
After the first-day session the participants gathered in the church with the members of the local congregation to listen to some interesting facts about the life and the literary work of Daniel Krman Jr It was presented by the local pastor Samuel Mišiak.
At the end, the General Inspector Imrich Lukáč expressed gratitude to all participants and to the staff of the General Bishop´s Office for their help to prepare the Synod.
