Teachers from America for School Year 2015-2016

Every year, based on Agreement between Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) and Lutheran Church Missouri Synod (LCMS) and Ministry of Education in the Slovak Republic are been coming voluntary teachers at our evangelical schools to teach specific subjects in English language.
This year we welcomed 7 new teachers, from previous year 4 teachers stayed and extended their operation for next year. Specifically, the bilingual gymnasium in Bratislava, Tisovec, Košice, Liptovský Mikuláš and one school was in Hungary – Aszód.

Evangelical Lutheran Theological Faculty in Bratislava happened first place for meeting of new teachers. So-called orientation week was the first week for them in Slovakia. Preparation course was led by Claudia Nelson and Arden Haug from ELCA. It was a full week of preparations for competencies and responsibilities at evangelical schools. New teachers were acquainted with life in Central Europe, with our country – Slovakia, with our tradition, Slovak language, but also with education system in Slovakia and teaching methods. Part of their schedule was visit at General Bishop Office of the Evangelical Church of Augsburg Confession in Slovakia. Their were welcomed by Secretary for Schools and religious education Daniela Veselá. Secretary for foreign department Lucia Martonová had a presentation about ECAC in Slovakia. Orientation week was ended by closing or sending Worship Service. Bishop of the western District Milan Krivda cordially welcomed them and wished them a lot of success and God´s blessings for their vocation.

All, whose are been decided to help in the education of our students, we wish, may God bless their work and give them enough strength and wisdom.
