Renewal church in Španie Pole

In the Evangelical Church of the A. C. in Španie Pole was held a solemn Worship Service by the occasion of renewal church, on the March 5, 2017. The dedication did the General Bishop Miloš Klátik; preacher at the service was Brother Martin Michaelis from Germany.
Španie Pole is a small village in the south-east in the Rimvská Sobota District. Original name of the village was Spanmezew and the first written reference about the village is from 1301, when the village had more than 800 inhabitants. The Evangelical Church was built in 1810. The last reconstruction was done in 1931. Gradually the church visibly became ramshackle. The evangelical members decided to change this situation. Gradually, they collected more than 13, 000 €. The next support came from Evangelicals in Germany. Thanks to this support they could repair the roof, tower, facade of the church and fence.

The people in the church were welcomed by the pastor Miroslav Kerekréty. He thanked to all for the financial support and help during the reconstruction works. The dedication had done the General Bishop of the ECAC in Slovakia Miloš Klátik. In his speech he explained the joy and together with believers he thanked to God, that he blessed all endeavour and works. He appealed to believers: „Let our love to this church is always true, real, honest and from the heart. Here we can completely give in our thoughts to God´s word and the whole human beings to His truth.“

The sermon had the Chairman of the Pastor´s Association of the United Evangelical Lutheran Church of Germany (VELKD) and Chairman of the Pastor´s Association in Thuringia Martin Michaelis. He preached on the text from the Gospel of Luke 2:22-40 (Jesus Is Presented in the Temple). He said: „Who will come into this church to hear the God´s words, or to be baptized, have wedding celebration, or to take Lord´s Supper, experience the most important thing, which can make man stronger and happier. Who will come here can see a Jesus Christ, who raise safety and hope. Cordially, I wish you the joy and at the same time humbleness. It is a God´s gift for all that we can rejoice. Do not forget on it!“

After the sermon the General Bishop Miloš Klátik handed in a commemorative medal of the ECAC in Slovakia to the 500th anniversary of the Reformation and Letter of Thanks to person, who contributed the most to the renewal and reconstruction of the church – Ján Matej, and the thanks was also given to his wife Paulína.

The next medal was handed in to pastor Michael Thurm, the member of the Presidency of the Pastor´s Association in Thuringia and member of the Presidency of the Gustav Adolf Werk in Thuringia. The Brother pastor Thurm confessed in his speech, that he is in love with this beautiful region, which visited many times. He welcomed the fact, that a new place on his map of Slovakia is now Španie Pole.
