President of the Slovak Republic welcomed representatives of Churches in Slovakia

The Board of the Evangelical Church A.C. in Slovakia – General Bishop Miloš Klátik and General Inspector Imrich Lukáč and the Bishops of Eastern and Western District of ECAC Slavomír Sabol and Milan Krivda were welcomed by the President of the Slovak Republic Ivan Gašparovič on 10th January 2013 together with other representatives of churches in Slovakia.
Ivan Gašparovič, the President of the Slovak Republic traditionally meets with representatives of churches in Slovakia on the occasion of the beginning of a new year.

In his speech he emphasized the importance of all churches in our society and asked all representatives of churches to continue in building up spiritual and ethical values among Christians. He specially concentrated on the jubilee this year - the 1150th anniversary of Cyril and Methodius`s arrival to our territory, which will be commemorated this year. He emphasized their spiritual message which appears also in the Preamble of the Constitution of the Slovak Republic.

Dr. Miloš Klátik, the General Bishop of ECAC and the chairman of the Ecumenical Council of Churches in Slovakia spoke on behalf of both institutions. He also mentioned the 20th anniversary of establishing of the Slovak Republic and besides the other things he said: “We grateful to our Lord for years of blessings…. ...but we forgot that the real freedom is where the spirit of our Lord is”.
