On ancient Devín we commemorated Ľudovít Štúr

On Saturday April 25, 2015 was held national celebration on castle Devín dedicated 200th anniversary since was born Ľudovít Štúr - Lutheran and significant national revivalist. And also memory on the commemorative walk Štúr followers on the castle Devín on Sunday of the April 24, 1836.
Main part of the national celebration was solemnly evangelical-lutheran service. A large number of Lutherans, not only from Bratislava but also from other parts of Slovakia, choked up at castle courtyard. On the beginning all participants welcomed senior of the Bratislava seniorate Sidónia Horňanová. Sermon had Bishop of the Western district ECAC in Slovakia Milan Krivda. He preached on the text Hebrews 11:24-26. He compared old testament Moses with our personality Ľudovít Štúr and his merits for Slovak nation. He described Ľudovít Štúr as a faithful Lutheran, who „wretched, miserable nation lifted, educated, fought for rights of nation, for freedom and decent life ... His heart was filled with charity and sacrificial love, which never seek its own interests, own benefit, but for benefit of Slovak nation, slovak people ... With Christian love we can make more.“

Also present were representatives other churches, state and social institutions and was read a letter from archbishop Stanislav Zvolenský, chairman of the Conference Catholic Bishops in Slovakia. Greeting of chairman Bratislava local government gave vice-chairman local government Martin Berta. He emphasized that is necessary remind to the young generation, that our own nationhood and the fact, that we can spoke in Slovak language, is work of Štúr and his followers and was started by his generation.

After service, was laid a wreath to the memorial plaque Ľudovít Štúr. People were addressed by chairman of Matica slovenská Marián Tkáč. Afternoon sounded interesting musical-dramatic composition „Vzleteli orli vysoko“. In the composition Juraj Sarvaš brought closer to listeners not only personality of Ľudovít Štúr but also J.M.Hurban and M.M. Hodža and he recited some of their literary composition.

Bishop Milan Krivda and chairman Matica slovenská Marián Tkáč and representatives other institutions laid wreaths and bunch of flowers to the Memorial of Apostoles Cyril and Methodius and to the Memorial plaque Anton Bernolák, also to the Memorial victims of World War I and World War II and to the Memorial of victims of the Iron Curtain.

National event on Devín was held under the aegis of Minister of Culture Marek Maďarič. The main administrator was Matica slovenská;co-administrator was Evangelical Church of the Augsburg Confession in Slovakia; Bratislava local government; City museum in Bratislava; Town section Bratislava-Devín and others.
