New Year´s meeting the President of Slovak republic with the representatives of the Churches

President of Slovak Republic Andrej Kiska adopted the representatives of the Churches and registered religious societies in Slovakia at the traditional meeting in President palace on the January 20, 2015. Evangelical Church of the Augsburg Confession in Slovakia was represented by General Bishop Miloš Klátik, who is also the Chairman of the Ecumenical Council of the Churches in Slovakia.
President of Slovak Republic in his speech said, that the meeting is held in emotional distress period when the world afflicted tragic events of the last weeks. He requested the representatives of the Churches about the dissemination of mutual esteem and respect to other opinion or religion, of mission tolerance, humanity and responsiveness to other people. He said to the upcoming February's referendum that: „church representatives could contribute not only to the result with which expires February's referendum, but also what feelings come out to our company as a whole“. Expressed the wish that no matter how ever will be the outcome of referendum, the result can not leave the wounds on the human beings and on their ability to discuss and listen to each other,to argue respectfully and honestly, we will not come after to the referendum divided into hostile camps.

For members of Ecumenical Council of the Churches (ERC) in Slovakia spoke general bishop of the Evangelical Church of the Augsburg Confession in Slovakia Miloš Klátik, chairman ERC. He thanked to the President interest about services of pastors in Christian Churches. He said: „Society, which is capable of honoring the traditions and cultural heritage of ancestor, have a chance to develop, cultivate, wisely handled with the values inherited“. It is necessary: „in love to serve all, honestly work, live in peace and understand, it doesn´t mean to close the eyes before wrong, injustice and non ethical attitude. In the end it causes disintegration not only family community and good interpersonal relationships, but society as a whole. Therefore we need use every opportunity to do a good, looking for justice, neglect neither education nor upbringing new generation“.

Speeches also had: Archbishop of Bratislava – Metropolitan and chairman of Slovak bishop´s conference of the Roman Catholic Church in Slovakia Stanislav Zvolenský and chairman Central Union of Jewish Religious Communities in Slovak Republic Igor Rintel. On the meeting were presented Ministry of the Culture in SR Marek Maďarič, director of the Department of Church of the Ministry of Culture Ján Juran and Apostolic Nuncio of the Holy See in Slovakia Mario Giordana.
