Consecration the new Archbishop of the Estonian Evangelical Lutheran Church

On the invitation of the Estonian Evangelical Lutheran Church was attended General Bishop Klátik, 2nd February 2015, at the ordination and the consecration new Archbishop Urmas Viilma in Tallinn.
The solemn consecration was held on Monday on the midday in evangelical Cathedral in Tallinn. The ordination and consecration was carried out by Bishop Einar Soone – Senior Bishop of the Eelc, Andres Põder – Archbishop-emeritus and Bishop Dr. Andres Taul together with President of the Lutheran World Federation and Bishop of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Palestine and Jordan and Evangelical Lutheran Church in Jordan and Holy Land. There were also presented Bishop of the Evangelical Church in Austria and General Secretary of the Community of Protestant Churches in Europe Dr. Michael Bünker, Archbishop Dr. Michael Jackson, Anglican Representative for the Porvoo Communion and other representatives of the evangelical churches in Europe.

Urmas Viilma was born in Tallinn in 1973. He began his studies at the EELC Theological Institute which he graduated in 1998. Urmas Viilma was ordained deacon in 1993, and priest in 1998. From 1993-2004, he served Pärnu-Jaagupi congregation at first as deacon and later as priest. From 2004-2008, he worked at the Church Property Administration joint stock company as its director and from 2008 as chairman of the board. From 2010, Urmas Viilma is the priest-in-charge of the Tallinn Cathedral congregation. He is a member of the EELC Consistory from 2005, from 2008 as the Chancellor of the Consistory. Urmas Viilma has been a school teacher for 20 years and for many years a school chaplain. Since 1991, he has taught religious studies first at Pärnu-Jaagupi and later at Saue Gymnasium. His ties with school, school culture and knowledge of educational landscape gave rise to the establishment of the Tallinn Cathedral School in 2011 together with the Tallinn Cathedral congregation and the EELC Consistory. The church has awarded Urmas Viilma the EELC Cross of Merit III Class in 2007. Urmas Viilma is married amd they have a daughter.
