Condolences Over the Tragedy Near Smolensk

General Bishop of the ECAC in Slovakia sent condolences to the Bishop of the Evangelical Church of the Augsburg Confession in Poland after the tragic plane crash near Smolensk.
Reverend Bishop Jerzy Samiec,

Please let me express my sincerest condolences to you in the name of the Evangelical Church of the Augsburg Confession in Slovakia over the tragic death of the President of the Polish Republic, Lech Kaczyńsky, and his wife as well as other national officials and representatives of the church in Poland. In particular, we were stricken by the death of the Evangelical leader and military chaplain, brother Colonel Adam Pilch.

I am aware of the indescribable loss, which afflicted your church and your country, and I share in your deep sorrow. We all pray for the bereaved families and we plead to our gracious God to help the Polish nation in this difficult time.

I believe that the words of our Lord Jesus Christ ring true for the beloved deceased, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies.” (John 11:25)

With deepest sympathy,

Miloš Klátik, General Bishop of the ECAC in Slovakia
