ECAC in Slovakia Has a Tree in Luther’s Garden in Wittenberg

General Bishop Miloš Klátik as the 51st representative of the churches from the whole world has planted the tree Gleditsia Triacanthos in Luther’s Garden with number 150. It is a project called "500 years of reformation - 500 trees in Wittenberg".

A Conference about Christian – Jewish Relations

From the 10th to the 13th of June, 2010, the annual conference of the The European Lutheran Commission on the Church and the Jewish People (Lutherische Europäische Komission Kirche und Judentum, LEKKJ) took place in Budapest. Professor Juraj Bándy represented the Evangelical Church of the A.C. in Slovakia at the conference.

The 11th General Assembly of the LWF Begins Today

On the 20th of July, 2010, at 3:00 p.m. a celebratory opening worship service took place in Stiftskirche in Stuttgart , Germany, and thus began the 11th General Assembly of the LWF, which continued through Tuesday, the 27th of July, 2010. The service was broadcast on the Slovak television channel, STV2, on the 25th of July 2010 at 8.50 am.

On the 19th of July, 2010, General Bishop Miloš Klátik was invited by the chairman of the European Commission, José Manuel Barroso, to Brussels to participate at the annual meeting of the representatives of the European churches with the highest ranking representatives of the European Union.

From 28.6.2010 until 4.7.2010 the celebrations of the 400th anniversary of Žilina Synod took place in Žilina and were organized by the Evangelic Church of Augsburg Confession in Slovakia in cooperation with the Mayor’s Office in Žilina and the Žilina region.

The Theological Conference ECAC

The Theological Conference took place in the congress hall of the Mayor’s Office in Žilina from 29th to 30th of June on the theme “The Žilina Synod“. This event was accessible to the public as well.

ECAC Synod 2010

ECAC Synod was held from 1. to 2.7. 2010 in the evangelical church in Žilina. Since the theme topic was the Synod of 1610 (and its 400th anniversary) it had a more festive character that year and it was also very significant for the institutionalization of the Lutheran church in the Upper Hungary and for the further development of our church following that Synod.

II. Evangelical Church Days in Žilina and Bytča

II. Evangelical Church Days 2. – 4. 7. 2010 were also dedicated to the 400th anniversary of Žilina Synod. The gathering of Lutherans from the whole Slovakia was joined by many Slovaks living abroad along with representatives from Lutheran churches in Germany, Austria, Hungary, Poland Czech Republic, Romania, Serbia and Sweden.
